The Computational Spintronics Group has a long-standing unique experience in studying the interplay between electrical currents and magnetic order in solid state devices. We develop and maintain the Smeagol code, which combines density functional theory with the non-equilibrium Green’s functions scheme for quantum transport to compute the current-voltage characteristics of magnetic devices.
Spintronics. Microelectronic devices that function by using the spin of the electron are a nascent multibillion-dollar industry--and may lead to quantum microchips.
The spin of the electrons is a degree of freedom that is not explored by conventional electronics rely only on the electrical charge to drive electronic circuits. 2017-05-30 Short description. The group works on Spintronics, Nanomagnetism and Thin Film Magnetism, Magnetic Tunnel Junctions and MRAM, and Magnetoplasmonics, with a particular focus on so-called Spin Torque Oscillators (STOs) for microwave applications in the GHz range, with several collaborations with Swedish, EU and US industrial laboratories. 2020-09-01 Online Spintronics Seminar Series.

Spintronics also known as spin electronics, is the study of the intrinsic spin of the electron and its associated magnetic moment, in addition to its fundamental Jan 26, 2020 Scientists have ramped-up research in "spintronics" (spin electronics) to make breakthroughs in new quantum materials, stable spin states, and Use the filter to narrow the results further.
Spinntronik,, Spinnelektronik/Spintronics eller magnetoelektronik, är teknik som utnyttjar elektroners spinn för att åstadkomma mer än vanlig elektronik.
Such devices utilise the spin degree of freedom of electrons and/or holes, which can also interact with their orbital moments. A technology has emerged called spintronics (spin transport electronics or spin-based electronics), where it is not the electron charge but the electron spin that carries information, and this offers opportunities for a new generation of devices combining standard microelectronics with spin-dependent effects that arise from the interaction between spin of the carrier and the magnetic properties of the material. 2015-10-12 · Spintronics exploits a property of electrons called ‘spin’.

The word spintronics—short for spin electronics—was coined in the 1990s to describe devices that take advantage of “spin,” a quantum-mechanical property of an electron that takes only two values: spin-up and spin-down.
Future applications may include spin-based computation. Spintronics is new emerging field of basic and applied research in physics and engineering where "neglected" magnetic degree of freedom of an electron—its spin—is envisaged to be exploited for classical an quantum information processing. Spintronics, or spin electronics, refers to the study of the role played by electron (and more generally nuclear) spin in solid state physics, and possible devices that specifically exploit spin properties instead of or in addition to charge degrees of freedom. Spintronics helped in creating a prototype device which used in industry as a read head and a memory-storage cell is the giant-magneto resistive (GMR) sandwich structure which consists of alternating ferromagnetic and non-magnetic metal layers.

This phenomenon has been termed the chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect, and it provides a challenge to theory and promise for organic molecule–based spintronic devices. This article reviews recent developments in our understanding of CISS Spintronics. Spintronics (short for spin-based electronics), sometimes called magnetoelectronics, is the term given to microelectronic devices that function by exploiting the spin of electrons. The most common use of spintronics today is in computer hard drives. Here memory storage is based on giant magnetoresistance (GMR) a spintronic effect. Spintronics, Inc 908 Firetree Rd.
